Fred Clegg, a Dedham resident for the past 31 years, died
unexpectedly on May 7th 2009. He was 60 years old. He grew up in
Roslindale and Mattapan. He was the son of the late Frank and
Phyllis Clegg.

As a boy, he was a Boy Scout, a paperboy and active with youth
activities at the Hyde Park Congregational Church. He attended the
very first “Boston Patriots” game on September 9, 1960 at the Boston
University field with his dad.

Fred loved his Conway Lake lifelong friends the “Tarscrapers,” and the
wide variety of activities they did together: cutting wood, snowmobiling,
fishing and soon to be motorcycling.

Fred was a past president of the “Madison Street Committee,” his
Dedham area friends for over 20 years.

Fred worked at the Boston Fire Department after high school
graduation. He began his career as a Facilities Manager at LTX in
Westwood, then FCI in Waltham, the YMCA of Greater Boston and
most recently at East Cambridge Savings Bank in Cambridge.

Fred is survived by his beloved family: his wife, Nancy and their
3 daughters, Katie, Rebecca and Jessica. His brother Lenny,
Francis L. Clegg of Dallas, Texas, and his sister
Marcia Belmore (Clegg) of Somersworth, NH.

Visiting hours will be held Monday, May 11th from 4-8 PM at the
Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, DEDHAM.
Fred’s funeral service will be held Tuesday,
May 12th at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home.
Interment will be private.
